I came across an interesting article this week called Chasing Buzzards. In it, Dr. R.B. Ouellette, the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport in Saginaw, Michigan, writes about the difference between chasing buzzards off and simply chasing buzzards.
When we chase buzzards off, we take an uncompromising stand against sin and error, and we deal with them when they arise. When we chase buzzards, we leave our primary responsibility in order to (to borrow the phrase from John Quincy Adams) go abroad in search of monsters to destroy.
Ouellette writes that “Chasing buzzards off is necessary,” but that “Chasing buzzards is dangerous.”
It’s a relatively short article, and worth reading. You can find the full article here.
